With the advancement of technology in schools, it is vital that educators instruct students about copyright and fair use. The website, Copyright & Creativity for Ethical Digital Citizens by C&C, provides free curriculum materials taught in elementary, middle, and high school. It teaches students the fair use concepts, protections, and limitations of copyright. The curriculum is divided into different age groups and includes specially designed lessons for each one. C&C’s curricula help guide the teachers in understanding how copyright affects their students. The lessons allow students to easily understand copyright, fair use, and creative commons while also holding students' interests. The pandemic has caused a greater emphasis on online learning, and this website would be able to accommodate that. 

Another vital factor for the usage of technology is the protection of privacy and security for parents and students. There are federal regulations set in place to help enforce protection. The website, Office of Educational Technology by the Department of Education, discusses some of those regulations. The first one mentioned is the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and it protects the privacy of student education records. The next one is the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), which gives parents control over what information is collected online from their children. Then it discusses the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA), which sets requirements for schools or libraries that receive discounts for internet access. The final regulation mentioned is the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA), and it protects the rights of parents and students in various ways. One way implies that schools and contractors create instructional materials that parents can view. The other way is to ensure that schools and contractors use parental consent before students take part in any evaluation that may reveal certain information. 

All of these regulations are essential to understand as an educator. This will enable you to know the rights of students and the responsibilities of schools. Parents being aware of these regulations also play a crucial role in their child’s education. Students’ privacy must be one of the top priorities for schools, and as a result, it will build a trustful relationship between parents and the school district. It is only fair that schools provide a safe learning environment where students and families do not have to worry about their privacy being compromised.

       The eighth chapter of The Growth Mindset Playbook by Annie Brock and Heather Hundley reviews how to foster a happy and collaborative classroom. The main message is to structure the school environment so students can learn about themselves and their peers. The authors discuss that teachers give their attention to students who appear to be more intelligent than others in some cases. This creates a hostile environment because it encourages students to compete against one another in an unhealthy way.      It is important for classrooms to have accessible technology for all students, especially those with exceptionalities. Students that need more help with daily functioning skills or managing behavior should have access to assistive technology. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) ensures that students with exceptionalities receive related services and a free appropriate public education.
